
Tide Charts – Know Before You Go

Check the Tide Charts for Islamorada before you head out. Ocean tides can vary many feet, especially during new and full moons.
Water levels need to be monitored to better plan your boat route today, or for the week; and where to anchor at the famous Sand Bar.
The image below from Hog Heaven Bar in Islamorada was taken at an extremely low tide during a new moon phase... just a couple of days after a recent solar eclipse.
High Tide and Low Tide in Islamorada happens two times each day. Knowing the tides will help you to decide when to visit certain restaurants by boat during low tide - depending on your draft.

Note the change of height of the water at the "white stick" next to the flag to understand the depth change that can happen within a few hours.

This way you know how far inside the sandy area to anchor before the tide "comes in or out". As shown above, many people get caught stuck when the tide goes out faster than usual!
