There are free parks - some with bathrooms - along your route while traveling. Get your kids out and take a walk after a long car ride for a break. One free walking park in Islamorada are the Key Tree Cactus Nature Preserve MM80.5 Bayside and has bathroom, picnic area, and kayak launch.
Another nice free Islamorada walking park is the Green Turtle Hammock Nature Preserve MM81.2 also on the Bay Side - Gift Shop too!
In March 2025, there was a kayak launch and a new building under construction.
Hidden behind the Islamorada Library At MM81.8 is the small LIBRARY BEACH PARK recently updated with picnic shelter, beautiful new playground, and a public bathroom.
How about seeing some huge Tarpon fish! You may stop by the World Wide Sportsman MM81.5 or Bud 'N Mary's MM79.8 and just look down!
Bud N Mary's below has a cafe, gift shop, and charters.
And below Bass Pro Worldwide Sportsmen's basin is full of Tarpon to view.
How about taking a walk on the Channel #2 Bridge at MM73? A SAFE pedestrian bridge! This fantastic view and nice walk to see the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay has fishing platforms and parking available on both sides. Fun to bike ride across too!
Although a small park, The Childrens Tree Memorial Garden is a nice shady place to stop and go for a walk / picnic after a long bike or car ride. This is located at the same driveway as the Tavernier Creek Marina and Habano's Restauraunt at MM90.
