Happy hours in Islamorada, Florida can be found at most places. If you don't see a happy hour menu out between the hours of 3-7pm, and you are sitting at a bar, make sure you ask, menus are not always obvious!
***** IMPORTANT TIP ****** All destinations below are great place to stop via car or bicycle - some have boat dockage and wells/basins will be show below for reference. Tides can vary 3-4' so check your charts... or take a car ride over and review the dockage situation before attempting if you're not familiar with the area.
Are you familiar with the Mile Markers in the Keys?? Key West is Mile Marker (MM) zero. So, all addresses correspond to Key West at MM-0. Most happy hours below correspond to Key Largo (MM100's), Tavernier (MM90's), and Islamorada (MM70-80's). Then you shall see "Bayside" or Ocean side" so you'll know which side of the road to watch!
Also good to know - I don't think there is a place we've tried where they would NOT cook our cleaned filets of fresh fish! Just bring them in a clean zip lock bag to hand over to the server. Most restaurants limit you usually to 1/2 to 3/4# per person which is plenty. If there are two or more of you, ask for the chef to prepare your "Hook n Cook" filets a couple different ways. Most restaurants offer grilled, blackened, or fried. If you go to an upscale restaurant, they will prepare it with one of their special sauces for an upgrade - usually always a great option to try. "Lazy Days Style" at Lazy Days Restaurant is one of the local's favorites (image below).

Hog Heaven - Islamorada - MM85 Ocean Side
BOAT DOCKAGE
Although you might think of "Hog Heaven" as a motorcycle bar, it really is not named for that. The founder, who also owned Banana Boat Sun Products graduated from University of Florida. He told me that his college fraternity was called "The Hogs". He named the bar after his fraternity so they all knew they had a place in come together to visit!
Lively place, with some very good menu items above the usual bar food. Live bands often perform. Great place to hang out and watch the boats come in and out.
Deep water basin boat dockage is available at Hog Heaven.

Happy hours include drinks, Stone Crab Claws, Wings & More. Taco Tuesday's are available, along with many great menu items... including full Sushi Bar! As of March 2025 update, brunch is also served from 9am Saturday & Sunday.

If you'd like an easy "turn around" ... pass by Island Grill docks and you will enter the basin of a local marina where you can turn around and then dock with your bow facing toward the channel.
Side wall boat dockage is available at the Island Grill - Islamorada at the Snake Creek drawbridge.

Live entertainment, steak night (Thursday), and flip night (Wednesday) bring in the local's to this bay view bar. Inside and outside dining are available. Great food with nice variety for everyone.
Located bay side, we've seen a variety of small boats to fairly large center consoles dock here. It's all about the tide for the deeper draft vessels so watch your charts. Great place to visit by car too!!

Well I can safely say this is the best pizza in Islamorada for "New York" style. The Whistle Stop which was my #1 (a bit south of here) has a better indoor atmosphere however for adults looking to hang out - also The Whistle serves an excellent Chicago Deep dish if that is your preference. There is inside family seating at the Islamorada Pizza Company, however, outside is quite beautiful so that would make it #1 for pizza and "outside" dining place. There are corn hole boards also for while you are waiting.

Sand Bar at Whale Harbor - Islamorada - MM83.4 Ocean Side
Public Dockage: Enter the basin and you'll see two large docks marked "Restaurant Wells". You can also dock up front, across from these wells alongside the wall right in front of the restaurant.
AND, don't forget about the Whale Harbor Buffet. Definitely worth the cost. Plenty of options for everyone.

The wood fire pizza was just an ok for my taste, if I was getting pizza, I'd opt for the Whistle Stop which most consider is the best in town. However, looking for a great pasta dish and fun experience? Then the Italian Food Company is a perfect choice. Above is a charcuterie board then a lasagna dinner that we split. We did ask for an extra order of bread to go with the board and was a fun 2-coarse meal for two with a couple glasses of wine on the side!
My other favorite is a pear/ricotta cheese ravioli (Fiocchi de Pera)!

Bayside Gourmet - Islamorada - MM82.7 (Off Water)
Lobster Bisque is fabulous! Best I've had anywhere. We also shared an antipasto salad which was large and had plenty of meats for lunch. The sandwiches here are large and can be shared so you can try a soup! There is also an outdoor garden patio for dining for lunch and dinner! Great menu options and quality ingredients. A local's choice.
Whistle Stop - Islamorada - MM82.6 Ocean Side (Off Water) and OPEN LATE NIGHT FOR FOOD!!!
One of the only places you can eat after 9pm every day! The best pizza in town - where the local's go.
The offer Chicago Deep dish (but plan 45 minutes for it to cook). The New York style is excellent... and the BLT pizza was also a great choice!

Open for brunch-lunch and dinner, beautiful beach side property inside the resort. Nice place to walk around after eating a good lunch. Great bike ride stop too!

Also to note! Lorelei serves hearty breakfast options at a very reasonable cost! This 2 person breakfast below was $20.71 before tip (March 2024)! Besides breakfast, lunch, and dinner.... Lorelei is a very popular tourist destination to watch the sunset each night. Live entertainment every night.
Boat dockage at Lorelei is limited. Along side the restaurant, most boats pull in nose first and use a power pole and get off at the bow. A bit difficult for larger boats & passengers.
***You may park inside the basin below when the on-site fishing guides are not launching. No dockage from 5am-9am and from 3pm-5pm.

Kaiyo - Islamorada - MM 81.7 Ocean Side (Off Water) - Happy Hour as of March 2025 Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 5-6pm anywhere in the restaurant & at the bar.
Although this restaurant is road side with no water view or access, it is a comfortable atmosphere inside and out. Higher end pricing, however, lots of sushi & fine steak options. Happy hour menu below where the entire restaurant is included in these specials.

A Mexican Food Truck is always on site for chips & salsa to full meals to bring in and enjoy a meal with a cocktail.

Two basins to dock - above image will be on your left.... a large basin is located to your right as well. You may tie up as shown on the peninsula side of the restaurant... the other side of this 2nd basin is reserved for local fishing vessels.
Quite a good amount of boat dockage on this long 2-side dock.

Enclosed in same building, but two different restaurants each with its own bar. The Nest is a casual sports bar and is quite less expensive than the Green Turtle who serves high end steaks and seafood choices. Attached is a roadside BBQ where you can smell the smoker going!

The happy hours wings are probably best in Islamorada at The NEST. Great place to watch sports too.

Robbie's - Islamorada - MM77.5 Bay Side
At the entrance to the most southern Village of Islamorada - Lower Matecumbe - is Robbie's. What was once a small marina/bar and place to stop and feed the tarpon has grown into a full huge restaurant with bars, boat rentals & trips, kayaks, multiple individual tourist shops... and yes you can still feed the tarpons which is an exciting experience.

Nice views and full menu. Originally known as the "dead animal bar" which once housed many animal head trophies. The place was recently renovated and has new owners.
